Bhav Gunjan Youth Festival 2025

This blog is part of Sunday reading to highlight our experience or thoughts on Youth Festival 2025 organised by Maharaja  Kumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. it was assigned by Dilip Barad sir. Here we find detail on this task.

Themes represented in various tableaux of Kala-yatra

1. Nationalism (Operation Sindoor):

This tableau depicts the spirit of nationalism through Operation Sindoor, showcasing the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers in protecting the nation’s integrity. It reflects the courage, discipline, and unity of the armed forces, reminding us of our duty to stand with those who safeguard our country.

2. Women Empowerment (As Goddess Durga/Chandi):

This tableau portrays womanhood as a divine force, symbolized by Goddess Durga and Chandi — embodiments of strength, courage, and righteousness. It celebrates the power of women to fight injustice, protect virtue, and bring balance to the world, reminding us that every woman carries the spirit of the divine within her.

3. Swadeshi Movement:

This tableau portrays the call for self-reliance and the rejection of foreign goods during India’s freedom struggle or even today. It celebrates indigenous industries, traditional crafts, and the spirit of economic independence.

4. Social as Monster :

A modern theme showing how excessive use of social media can lead to isolation, misinformation, and loss of real human connection.

5. Ordinary Life:

Depicting the simplicity and beauty of everyday life, this tableau celebrates common people—their struggles, joys, and perseverance. It reminds us that greatness often lies in ordinary moments and simple living.

 Major themes in dramatic events like One Act Play (एकांकी), Skit (लघु नाटक), Mime (मूक अभिनय) , Mono-acting (एक पात्रीय अभिनय).

These dramatic events highlight pressing social and moral issues of our times. Themes such as education, politics, social change, and the condition and safety of women are powerfully portrayed through expressive performances. Each act becomes a mirror to society, inspiring awareness, empathy, and a call for positive transformation. Through emotion, creativity, and dialogue, these performances aim to educate and awaken the audience to real-world concerns.

The theory of “Comedy of Menace” by Irving Wardle is reflected in the play on women’s safety, where fear hides beneath normal situations.
A dark atmosphere and constant tension create a sense of psychological threat.
It reveals the silent menace and insecurity that women experience in everyday life.

Ben Jonson (Comedy of Humours):

Ben Jonson’s Comedy of Humours portrays characters dominated by a single overwhelming trait or “humour” that defines their behavior. Through satire and exaggeration, he exposes human follies and aims to correct social and moral imbalances with humor.

 Events of Fine Art

 Cartooning/ Poster Making

The displayed artworks collectively serve as a powerful visual satire on contemporary life, exposing the ironies of a world dominated by technology, academic pressure, and social conformity. Through exaggerated imagery and humor, they critique how digital devices control human behavior, how education has become mechanical and stressful, and how creativity is often suppressed in pursuit of success. The recurring motifs of robots, screens, and anxious students highlight the emotional disconnect and loss of individuality in modern society. Each piece, whether questioning “What is in my mind?” or portraying students enslaved by gadgets, reflects a sharp awareness of how progress, instead of liberating the human spirit, often imprisons it—turning the modern mind into both the creator and the victim of its own inventions.

Painting

These artworks beautifully capture the essence of Indian rural life through vibrant colors and traditional themes.

They reflect aestheticism in their graceful depiction of culture and community.

A subtle didactic tone emerges, reminding viewers to value tradition and simplicity.

Hints of satire appear in portrayals of gender roles, questioning social norms with gentle irony.

Collage

These collage artworks reveal a blend of aestheticism, didacticism, and humanistic expression. The use of torn paper pieces to form portraits, landscapes, and still-life scenes showcases a deep aesthetic appreciation for texture, color, and form, turning simplicity into beauty. Thematically, the works celebrate human emotion, cultural identity, and the harmony between man and nature, conveying a didactic message about mindfulness, creativity, and the value of everyday life. While overt satire is minimal, a quiet irony lies in the transformation of discarded paper into art—suggesting how art redeems what society overlooks. Altogether, these pieces exemplify the power of art to teach through beauty, merging visual elegance with subtle moral insight.

Clay Melding

The clay models on nature, village life, and dancing figures celebrate simplicity and cultural beauty.

They reflect aestheticism through graceful forms and natural harmony.

A didactic tone reminds viewers of the need to stay rooted in tradition and nature.

Subtly, they critique modern detachment, valuing joy, balance, and community.

Also we attend Folk Dance, Folk song, Classical Music, Debate, Western instrument , Creative Choreography etc.

 My Experience

My first experience participating in the Youth Festival was truly memorable and inspiring. I took part in the clay molding competition, where I had the chance to express my creativity through shapes and forms. It was a wonderful learning experience that helped me explore my artistic side, gain confidence, and appreciate the joy of creating something with my own hands.
